To wee – or not to wee (on the carpet!). The ins and outs of animal healing and healing ourselves as well!

Recently we have had to do some energy work on our cat Moo, who had a bout of illness and as a result, changed his ideas about where he would like to do his business!

While he’s not too bothered about weeing in the lounge or pooing in my study, we found it a bit upsetting to say the least! After a quick vet visit to rule out bladder infection or other physical problem, we then went to work to try and understand this delightful change of habit! 😉

Our methods when we work on a cat, as opposed to a client, i.e. a person are quite similar in lots of ways. With a person, we look for patterns on both the conscious and subconscious levels. With our cat however, that’s not quite the same, although as far as I know, he does have a conscious and a subconscious although I’m still a bit fuzzy how that works for cats! 😉

With something like this we like to talk to him to ask if there is anything he is worried about. When I say ‘talk’ I don’t mean chatting out loud of course – although there are times when that is useful and applicable. We use a method that is probably similar to that used by animal communicators. We tune into our cat’s energy, as we would with a client. Then we ask a clear question and wait for an answer – again in much the same way that we might when working on a person. I ask the question in my mind and wait for intuition/Source/my higher self to give me useful information.

So far so similar! In Moo’s case, he sometimes gives us answers such as, “I’m not recovered enough to use the litter tray. I want to. I need more time.” Which is great. However, when we asked why he suddenly decided to wee in the bedroom, we got the answer – “How would I know?!”

This is the point where we could have given up in despair, but we’ve gained a lot of experience working on Moo and have discovered something interesting. When we give an energetic message to our cat, it can be received in two ways. There is his higher self or soul and then there is what we call his ‘cat self’.

The cat self is instinctive in nature, it watches out for predators, chases birds or walks a certain route around the room. This said ‘cat self’ is separate from the higher self or soul and if you tell something to the higher self and get the message “OK, I’m happy now”, that is good, but you also have to inform the ‘cat self’ or you won’t get the changes you were looking for.

When talking to ‘cat self’ we found it communicates on a more simplistic level. Sometimes, just an emotion, picture, or one word reply, whereas higher self can give us more detailed responses.

In this case, we deliberately tuned in to speak to ‘cat self’ and asked about the bedroom incident! Cat self communicated (in feelings/pictures) that it was feeling anxious about weeing downstairs but felt safe when we were in the room, hence the 2 a.m. bedroom wee!

Once we realised this, we were able to do some energy work on fear patterns and being safe, which we made sure was heard by cat self as well as higher self! This seems to have done the trick! – but it occurred to me that we humans also need to understand things on different levels in order for healing to occur.

When we are working on a client with a physical problem, we try to get to the root of why it is happening and make a change there. For example, when I was trying to heal my hiatus hernia I realised I needed to make the decision to move house so there was less pressure on me.

Once my body realised I was committed to making changes, it was prepared to ease up on the physical symptoms. Yay! So we always ask if the body has heard the message.

Sometimes, though, it’s not enough, the body has heard but not understood. I’m not sure why this is, but I think it’s to do with the fact that some of our ideas and emotions exist at a very deep level so need a bit more work to shift them.

It is important to line up both responses in order to get physical change, so if something doesn’t happen and on the surface it looks like everything is lined up for success, try looking a little deeper – it may be you have a subconscious belief or feeling that is getting in the way.

Talking to the subconscious can be tricky, but if you put yourself into a relaxed state where you are not pushing too hard, you can ask questions and get answers back. They might not be what you expect – but very useful all the same – so anytime you are really struggling and cannot make sense of why, it might be time to have a little chat with your subconscious!
